Modular Administration

The IDS-2 removes the need to switch between multiple test instruments based on different samples. Setup as a true “toolkit”, users can simply select which subtests in the IDS-2 are appropriate for the child or adolescent being evaluated. The IDS-2 has a modular design so that each testing session covers the areas needed in an individual way.

Testing Time

The following are approximate testing times:

  • Intelligence: 
    - IQ Screening, 2 subtests - 10 minutes
    - IQ General Intelligence, 7 subtests - 50 minutes
    - IQ Complete Profile, 14 subtests - 90 minutes
  • Executive Functions, 4 subtests - 30 minutes
  • Psychomotor Skills, 3 subtests - 20 minutes
  • Social-Emotional Skills, 3 subtests - 15 minutes
  • Scholastic Skills, 4 subtests (according to age) - 30-60 minutes
  • Motivation and Attitude, 2 subtests - 7 minutes

Online Scoring

Easy online scoring is provided though the user-friendly and time efficient electronic test evaluation program in the Hogrefe Testsystem (HTS), which eliminates errors and enables automatic profiling and reporting. This provides graphical displays of standard scores and individual performance profiles for clear feedback of the test results.

Available Scores and Reports

  • 7 report options are available through HTS, including Intelligence, IQ- Screening, Executive Function, General Development (3 age groups), and an Overall Development Profile
  • Standardized scores are reported as mean 10, SD 3, and certain scores in the Intelligence Domain on the IQ scale as mean 100, SD 15.
  • Test scores can also be analyzed using age norms and school year norms for comparison at an individual or group level. 

Applications

The IDS-2 is standardized in each language on children and adolescents ages 5-20 years. This comprehensive assessment can be used to identify and help to diagnose intellectual disabilities and learning disorders, as well as evaluating cognitive and motor skills, and emotional strengths and weaknesses.

The IDS-2 is suitable for general developmental assessment as well as for clinical application. 

For example, IDS-2 can be used to:

  • Determine aptitude (e.g., intellectual impairment and giftedness)
  • Determine appropriateness of school placement
  • Assess intelligence and development in the context of particular development disorder of speech and language, scholastic skills, and motor function
  • Assess intellectual and development status in the context of pervasive development disorders (e.g., autism spectrum disorder)
